West Thurston Regional Fire Authority Press Release
Rochester, WA March 23rd, 2010 -- A fire this morning destroyed a family's barn. The fire broke out approximately 1:45 AM in the 21700 block of Old Hwy 99 in Rochester. Firefighters responded after flames from the barn where seen. The first arriving unit reported a 1200 sq. barn heavily involved with fire, and several structures being threatened within ten feet. A strong defensive attack was initiated and the residence and other structures were spared, unfortunately the fire led to the total loss of the barn and livestock in the barn. West Thurston, Tenino Fire, Mclane/Black Lake Fire and Riverside Fire Authority responded with tenders, engine companies, command unit, aid unit, and rehab, in all over 20 firefighters responded to fight the blaze and protect exposures.
The barn fire cause is being investigated and is a total loss.
