Fill the Boot to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association

The next dates for fill the boot are August 14th and 15th in Rochester at the intersection of Hwy 12 and Elderberry from 10 am to 6 pm.

Thank you to those of you who have supported our fill the boot this far, our total is $15,557 for the dates of July 16th thru the 18th.

The program started in 1955 when nothing was being done to help families with neuromuscular diseases. A firefighter in Boston went out with his boot to local businesses and asked them to “fill the boot” for MDA. We have been going every year since – 56 years of tradition.

• In 56 years over $409 million has been raised to help people with Muscular Dystrophy $29 million was raised in 2009 alone.
• Local 3825 raised $26,319 last year – over $16,000 was in Rochester over 2 days.
• 3825 was ranked #3 in our South Sound territory and ranked #7 in the state for Fill the Boot income.
• There were 77 locals that participated last year. HUGE deal that they were #7.
• Over the past 4 years Local 3825 has been doing the program they have raised over $81,000 for our chapter.
• In 2006 3825 was named Rookie of the Year by Washington State Council of Firefighters for over $22,000 raised in their first Fill the Boot.
