Job Overview

Job Title: Recruit and Retention Coordinator

 

Position Description:

​

WTRFA is seeking a highly motivated career minded person that works within the supervision of the Fire Chief or designee, is a liaison to the Volunteer Advisory Board (VAB) and manages the districts volunteer recruitment and retention program. Working within the guidance of the district’s operational objectives, strategic plan, mission statement and the requirements committed in the four-year 2022 FEMA Grant, the coordinator will be responsible for assisting in developing leading and implementing a comprehensive effective program that attracts and retains qualified volunteers and residents to WTRFA. Desired education and credentials include an Associate’s degree, firefighter 1 and current Washington State EMT or NREMT card. However, satisfactory equivalent training and experience will be considered.

Salary: $5,208.00 per month

Hours-Location of Work:

​

The position is full-time hours per week, Monday through Friday, some evenings and weekends. The Headquarters Station is located at 10828 Littlerock Rd. SW, Olympia, WA. 98512

Qualifications, Experience & Typical Duties

​

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate degree, current Washington State EMT or NREMT card. However, satisfactory equivalent training and experience will be considered.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent GED

  • Pass fire Department pre-employment background check

​

Preferred Experience:

Preferred experience in office management, records management, website management, Adobe software, marketing and branding and previous fire department experience to include Firefighter 1 and EMT.

Typical Duties:

​

  • Assist the Fire Chief or designee in developing and maintaining an effective volunteer program.

 

  • Planning, coordination, promoting and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment and retention program and will also assist with special district and volunteer projects.

 

  • Assist in receiving and processing candidate applications.

 

  • Develop marketing materials to be used in the recruitment of volunteers. Examples may be video, and other forms of media. As well as written material to include brochures and special advertisement.

 

  • Establishing and delivering effective recruitment events in colleges and other organizations.

 

  • Work in conjunction with VAB to analyze data, issues, identify potential solutions and effectively implement recommendations.

 

  • Utilize organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and constantly changing priorities.

 

  • Assist in coordination of recruitment testing and interview nights.

 

  • Assists in the orientation of new members.

 

  • Attends all the VAB meetings, recruitment night, department meetings and meetings assigned and provides reports.

 

  • Forwards new members to supply officer for issuance of equipment.

 

  • Coordinates with Mentor’s and Officer’s.

 

  • Monitors Volunteer training activity.

 

  • Acts as a Volunteer Advisory Board (VAB) Liaison with Mentors and Officer’s.

 

  • Other duties as assigned and within acceptable grant funding activities.
